What restroom setup works best for a wedding?
The best wedding restroom setup depends on guest count, hours and dress code. A 100-guest, 6-hour reception with a bar needs 4 units by our planning rule, so plan 4 flushing units with sinks or a three or four-stall restroom trailer. Add 1 wheelchair-accessible unit when older guests attend.
| Guests | Casual setup | Comfort setup | Formal setup |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 3 standard + 1 station | 3 flushing units | 2-stall trailer + 1 flushing unit |
| 100 | 4 standard + 2 stations | 4 flushing units | 3 or 4-stall trailer |
| 150 | 6 standard + 2 stations | 6 flushing units | 4-stall trailer + 2 flushing units |
Should I rent a restroom trailer or flushing porta potties?
Rent a restroom trailer when the venue has power and a water hose, and guests expect an indoor feel. Rent flushing porta potties when the venue has no power, the path is tight, or the budget is firm. Both give guests a flush and a sink.
See the restroom trailer and the flushing unit with sink for space and hookup needs.
When should wedding restrooms be delivered?
Wedding restrooms are usually delivered the day before the ceremony and picked up the day after. That leaves time to decorate, add lights and fix placement. Restroom trailers need a little more setup time, so book at least a week ahead and much earlier for spring and fall weekends.
Where should restrooms go at a backyard or barn wedding?
Restrooms at a backyard or barn wedding should sit on level ground about 50 to 100 feet from the reception, out of photo lines, with a lit path. Face doors away from tables. Put a hand-washing station or the flushing units closest to dinner, and keep the truck route clear.
Stillwater summers are hot, so shade helps. Wind on open pasture can be strong; set units beside a barn or tree line. Read the backyard wedding restroom guide.

Questions renters ask
Is it normal to rent porta potties for a wedding?
Renting restrooms for a wedding is normal for barns, ranches, backyards and parks, and many venues require it when the indoor bathroom is small. Flushing units and trailers look nothing like a job-site unit.
Can we decorate the restroom units?
Restroom units can be decorated with signs, flowers, baskets of supplies and string lights, as long as nothing blocks the door or vent. Avoid tape on the walls and remove decor before pickup.
Do restroom trailers come with an attendant?
A restroom trailer arrives cleaned and stocked, and most weddings need no attendant. For 200 or more guests or long receptions, ask about a mid-event restock.
How far ahead should we book wedding restrooms?
Book wedding restrooms as soon as the date is set. May, June, September and October weekends book first, and restroom trailers are limited. Flushing units are easier to find on shorter notice.
